Be it ordained by the city council of the City of Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, as follows: That the following intersections in the City of Fairfield, Illinois, are designated as stop intersections for vehicles travelling in the direction indicated, to-wit:

18.12.020 Posting Signs.
 
The chief of the police department of the City of Fairfield shall post or cause to be posted suitable stop signs at said intersections facing the traffic approaching said intersections in the direction of travel as state above. (Ord. 941 Art. 2, 1971)

18.12.030 Operation of Vehicle.
 
The driver of any vehicle shall stop in obedience to said stop signs at said intersections and shall proceed cautiously yielding right of way to vehicles not so obliged to stop which are within the intersection or approaching so close as to constitute an immediate hazard unless traffic at such intersections is controlled by a police officer on duty, in which event the directions of the police officer shall be complied with. 18.12.040 Penalty.
 
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each offense. (Ord. 941 Art. 7, 1971)

18.12.050 Portable Stop Signs at North First and Sluder.
 
 The chief of the police department of the City of Fairfield or any person designated by him is hereby authorized to place a portable stop sign at the intersection of North First Street and Sluder Avenue facing traffic traveling north and south, which stop sign may be so placed during school hours or school activities at the Northside Grade School or immediately prior or subsequent to such school hours or activities, and the driver of any vehicle shall stop in obedience to said stop signs at said intersection and shall proceed cautiously yielding right-of-way to vehicles which are within the intersection in approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard to traffic and yielding right-of-way to pedestrians unless traffic at such intersection is controlled by a Police Officer on duty, in which event the directions of the Police Officer shall be complied with.
